Receive the Rest

Rest

Devotional from Pastor Tim

If your walk with God feels exhausting, there’s a reason. Religion gives you a job description. Jesus gives you a resume. The invitation of the gospel isn’t a call to try harder, do more, or live up to some unattainable standard; it’s a call to receive what’s already been done.

At salvation, Jesus didn’t give you a list of tasks. He gave you Himself. You are forgiven, loved, and made righteous, not because of your effort but because of His finished work. That means you’re free to stop striving and start living from the new heart He’s placed in you.

The joy of the Christian life comes not from religious performance but from relational rest. He didn’t make you a worker trying to earn wages; He made you a child enjoying the inheritance. You are in Christ, and Christ is in you. That changes everything.

So what does that mean today? It means you can breathe deeply. You can trust fully. And you can live joyfully, not under pressure, but in freedom. Rest isn't a lack of work, but a work without lack.

“For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.” Hebrews 4:10
