Grace Unveils the Hypocrisy of Religion

Worry

Religion always tells you that you are not enough. Not good enough. Not loved enough. Not holy enough. Not forgiven enough. Not doing enough. We’ve all traveled the dead-end road of trying to do more and be more, to be okay.

This started in the Garden of Eden when the enemy called into question what God had said and done. God made mankind in His image, to reflect His very goodness. This was to be their protection to any temptation the devil could throw at them. If God had told the truth, and He always does, then they needed nothing else to be enough because being in His image, rightly related to Him, and loved by Him was enough!

But they were deceived into thinking they could make better of themselves beyond what God had done for them. The devil’s implication was that they were not good enough, and neither was God. What a lie! This is the fraud of religion that wears you out trying to be enough so God will bless you, love you, and accept you.No wonder Jesus offers rest when you come to Him, because you find by His doing you already are good enough, blessed, loved, and accepted! That’s grace! Grace unveils the hypocrisy of religion by revealing that it is God’s goodness that determines your goodness, not the other way around. By His grace, you are good enough, even righteous.

By His grace, you are loved, more than you know. By His grace, you are forgiven, fully and forever. By His grace, you are accepted in the beloved. By His grace, you have all that you need, so when temptation comes knocking, you can say, “Enough already!”
